From January 29 to February 2, 2024, in cooperation with partner company Average Solutions, we held our first workshop on industrial automation in Technological Park Posušje. The workshop covered topics from programming the SIEMENS S7 -1200 PLC, creating visualizations on SIMATIC HMI panels, and commissioning SINAMICS V20 and G120 series frequency converters. Through the workshop, participants became familiar with working in the TIA Portal software package and industrial computer networks (PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Modbus TCP…).

Workshop participants were engineers from companies Weltplast., Miviko Cables. and TT Cables.

My responsibilities during planning and conducting this workshop included:

    • Curriculum Development
Development of a comprehensive curriculum that covered the basics of PLC programming with the SIEMENS TIA Portal, understanding analog sensors, inputs and outputs, and computer networks.
    • Lecturing
Delivering lectures on industrial communication protocols (PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Modbus TCP), web tension control systems with dancer roll, and other relevant topics in industrial automation.
    • Practical Demonstrations
Conducting practical exercises on demonstration models to ensure participants could apply their newly acquired knowledge to existing production lines within their companies, as well as future industrial automation projects.
    • Event Organization
As the event organizer, I coordinated with our partner company, managed logistics, and ensured a smooth and productive learning experience for all participants.

This event was a significant step towards enhancing the skills and knowledge of professionals in the field of industrial automation, and I am proud to have played a key role in its success.
